RaceTrac plans to make its entrance into North Carolina this September with the opening of a convenience store in Monroe. The store, located at 4060 W. Highway 74, about 20 miles southeast of Charlotte, sits on about 3.5 acres of land and will be Atlanta-based RaceTrac’s first in the Tar Heel State, RaceTrac Senior Communications Manager John Friess told CSP Monday.

The site will include a 6,000-square-foot retail location and seven fuel dispensers, with 14 fueling positions at the auto canopy and three high-flow diesel fueling lanes at the diesel canopy, he said.

Inside the store, customers can purchase items like RaceTrac’s handcrafted pizzas, sandwiches, salads, fruit cups, Swirl World frozen yogurt, Crazy Good Coffee and more.

“We are excited about investing in the Charlotte area and across North Carolina, bringing a strong, thriving business to a rapidly growing region,” Friess said. “We believe the region’s vibrant economy and welcoming communities present a tremendous opportunity for our innovative approach to enhance customer accessibility and service while meeting the growing demand for convenient and quality options for fuel and food. We look forward to being a valued neighbor in the community and providing our guests with the great eats, clean fuel options, and an elevated store experience we are known for, 24-7, 365 days a year.”

RaceTrac said it plans on continuing to expand its reach in North Carolina and to growth throughout the state “for years to come.”

Family-owned RaceTrac is one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, with more than 800 retail locations serving customers through the RaceTrac and RaceWay brands. The company employs more than 10,000 team members across RaceTrac, RaceWay and affiliated companies Metroplex Energy, Energy Dispatch and Gulf Oil.

There are about 10 RaceWay stores in North Carolina, according to the company’s store locator map. RaceWay operates 241 stores in 11 states in the Southeast.
