RaceTrac has hired a new chief information officer. Ameet Shetty started with Atlanta-based RaceTrac Oct. 20, the convenience-store chain told CSP Daily News.
Shetty brings more than 29 years of finance and technology experience, including 15 years leading enterprise technology strategies across the financial services, retail and consumer goods industries. Shetty most recently worked at Equifax, where he transformed the company’s data governance, quality and cloud-native architecture approach, according to RaceTrac. Previously, he held positions with Pilot Flying J, McDonald’s, SunTrust and Fifth Third Bank.

As RaceTrac’s CIO, Shetty will drive innovation and advance the company's business goals by leveraging his expertise in data, analytics and emerging technologies, the company said. He will help guide RaceTrac through its next era of innovation, the company said, with a focus on enterprise-wide technology vision, cybersecurity, data strategy and artificial intelligence (AI) adoption.
Shetty (pictured below) holds degrees from the University of Georgia and Georgia State University.

RaceTrac said in August it was looking for a CIO, a newly created position, following John Lukas' retirement as vice president of information technology.
Family-owned RaceTrac is one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, with more than 800 retail locations serving customers through the RaceTrac and RaceWay brands. The company employs more than 10,000 team members across RaceTrac, RaceWay and affiliated companies Metroplex Energy, Energy Dispatch and Gulf Oil. RaceWay operates 241 stores in 11 states in the Southeast.
