SALEM, Oregon — If everything goes to plan, the U.S. Market chain of convenience stores could have a banner year in 2023. The 25-year-old chain expects to grow to nearly 55 stores, remodel several sites and launch a loyalty app that will add mobile ordering as a new way for customers to satisfy their convenience needs.

The growth, hoped to include the purchase of several stores in Oregon and elsewhere, will cap this year, when the chain added seven stores through acquisition, plus a handful of new-build locations, bringing it to 42 owned and operated stores under the U.S. Market brand.

“[Recently acquired sites] are going through full interior and exterior remodels that are changing the sites’ looks drastically,” Amar Sidhu of U.S. Market told CSP Daily News recently. “We help drive innovation and creative designs through our stores with details local to the stores and in the surrounding city. For example, we did a site in Roseburg, Ore., where we made sure all the details to the site had some correlation with the city, giving a cool, clean outdoors vibe.”

The 2023 plans are part of a long-term growth strategy that began in 1998, when Sidhu’s father and uncle acquired their first c-store in Silverton, Oregon. Now based in Salem, Oregon, the chain operates stores in five states—Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Texas and Arizona—with plans to enter Montana soon. The company also markets gasoline under the Space Age brand.

“Our coming 2023 plans are to acquire more sites and to grow more into our neighboring states,” Sidhu said. “We are adding in new innovation for our customers and making their shopping experience easier and more efficient."
