ALTOONA, Pa. -- Through a partnership with Feeding America, Sheetz is launching the Made-to-Share campaign to help people who struggle with hunger.
The campaign launched this month during Hunger Action Month.
As part of Made-to-Share, Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. will provide weekly product donations from each of its 536 stores to Feeding America member food banks in the communities it serves. Feed America is one of the leading domestic hunger-relief organizations with 200 member food banks serving all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
“We can’t forget that even in a country as prosperous as America, millions of our neighbors go without food, many of them children,” said Joe Sheetz, president and CEO of Sheetz. “At Sheetz, we’ve found that we can help fill that void in the communities where we operate. We remain committed to ending hunger in our neighborhoods, streets and schools.”
Through Made-to-Share, Feeding America will help align all 536 Sheetz stores with food banks by the end of 2017. At scale, through this partnership, Sheetz will donate more than 2.5 million pounds of food, which translates to more than 2 million meals.
Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz is a family-owned and -operated c-store chain with 536 locations throughout Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio and West Virginia.
