
Sheetz Inc. is celebrating the grand opening of its 800th convenience store, a significant step toward the company’s goal of 1,000 stores by 2028. The store, which will open its doors on Thursday, is in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Sheetz is No. 13 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.
To honor the occasion, Sheetz is offering two free hot dogs with any purchase Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, 2025. The Labor Day weekend offer will be available at all 800 Sheetz locations through the OFFERZ tab in the Sheetz app.

Zignificant growth
Sheetz has experienced significant growth since it opened its 700th store in Columbus, Ohio, on Sept. 12, 2023. Recent expansion highlights include:
- In 2023, Sheetz expanded into Dayton, Ohio, and now has nearly 10 stores in the market, with plans to open 10 more in the next few years.
- In August 2024, Sheetz officially entered the state of Michigan by opening its first-ever Detroit-area store, followed by the opening of its second Detroit-area store last month. Sheetz plans to open 50-60 locations in southeast Michigan over the next five to six years.
- Last year, Sheetz opened its first two locations in the greater Cincinnati area in Franklin, Ohio and Springboro, Ohio.
- Last year, Sheetz also opened its first two stores in Toledo. In May 2025, Sheetz opened two additional stores in this market and is planning to open more later this year.
- Last year, Sheetz broke ground on the construction of its new, $169 million food preparation and distribution center in Findlay, Ohio, to support the company’s growth across this area.
Sheetz currently operates convenience stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Michigan.

Last week, Sheetz was ranked in the top 10 of the most recent Companies that Care list by Great Place to Work and People magazine. This marks the fourth consecutive year, and fifth time in six years, that Sheetz has been ranked on this national list which highlights the top U.S. companies that have succeeded in business while also demonstrating outstanding respect and care for their employees and communities.

Sheetz For the Kidz
In other company news, the retailer’s Sheetz For the Kidz employee-driven charity raised more than $1 million during its July in-store giving campaign for the first time in its history.
Every year during July and December, Sheetz customers can donate to Sheetz For the Kidz at checkout, either through donation boxes or by adding a gift to their purchase. These funds support local kids in need with clothes, toys and more through the Sheetz For the Kidz Holiday Program in partnership with The Salvation Army.
Last year, customers raised more than $1.81 million for nearly 12,400 children within the seven states Sheetz operates through in-store fundraising in July and December. Created in 1992, the charity has reached more than 182,000 children living within Sheetz’s footprint to date.
In partnership with Make-A-Wish, funds raised during the campaign also sponsor wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. The charity sponsors one child per Sheetz operating district, totaling 78 children last year.
And Sheetz For the Kidz also partners with Feeding America to provide food to children in need. In 2024, Sheetz For the Kidz’s $782,000 commitment served more than 2.4 million meals through backpack programs, kids cafés, school and mobile pantries and summer feeding programs.
