Sheetz is making more moves in Michigan. The convenience retailer opened its second Detroit-area c-store on Tuesday as part of plans to open 50 to 60 stores in southeast Michigan over the next five to six years.
The newest location is at 29225 Smith Road, Romulus, Michigan, Sheetz said in a Tuesday announcement on the grand opening. The region’s next store opening is slated for this fall in Chesterfield Township, Michigan.
“We’re proud to be expanding in metro Detroit and deeply grateful for the warm welcome we continue to receive from the Romulus community,” Sheetz President and CEO Travis Sheetz said. “Our goal is to make a lasting, positive impact in every neighborhood we serve—through our food, our people and our partnerships with local organizations.”
At each new store opening, Sheetz donates $2,500 to Special Olympics and the local Feeding America partner, which in this case was Forgotten Harvest.
Several more Sheetz stores are under construction and set to open in 2025, the chain said.
