The 2026 National Football League (NFL) Draft is taking place in Pittsburgh this year, and Sheetz is helping make sure visitors can easily get around the city.
The convenience-store chain partnered with Pittsburgh Regional Transit to offer free rides on its “T” light rail system, including the Red, Blue and Silver lines, and the Monongahela Incline from April 23-April 25, when the draft takes place.
The partnership is an effort to simplify travel, reduce congestion and improve access to key destinations, Pittsburgh Regional Transit said in a LinkedIn post.
“This weekend is all about the fans and this great city that is bringing them together,” said Ryan Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing and supply chain for Sheetz. “By partnering with Pittsburgh Regional Transit to cover fares during draft weekend, we’re helping make it easier for everyone to get around so they can focus on enjoying the experience.”
It is estimated that 500,000 to 700,000 visitors will come to Pittsburgh for the draft, the public transit service agency said.
Select trains will feature Sheetz-branded elements celebrating the city. The c-store chain will also host fan activations, including giveaways, mascot appearances and social media engagement opportunities for riders.
While Altoona, Pennsylvania-based Sheetz has more than 25 stores in Allegheny County, it doesn’t have a store in city limits—yet.
“Although this project is in the very early stages, we can confirm that we are planning a new store, located at the intersection of Banksville Road and Wenzell Avenue,” said Nick Ruffner, public affairs manager for Sheetz. “This would be the first store within Pittsburgh's city limits. We look forward to sharing more details soon and to eventually begin serving customers in this area of the city.”

Sheetz has more than 830 stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Michigan. It’s planning to enter Indiana in 2027. It recently made the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list for the 11th year in a row.
