C-store division president succeeds CEO, who has been named chairman

In his new role, Shipley will lend strategic support, specifically related to acquisitions, major transactions or investments, to Shipley Energy on a limited basis.

Shipley Energy owns and operates five Tom’s convenience stores and travel centers in Pennsylvania.

The leadership transition comes as Shipley Energy is seeking to expand its energy product offerings and geographic footprint. As CEO, Gruno will lead the strategic direction of Shipley Energy with the goals of driving continued sales growth and product innovation while serving the needs of energy consumers, the company said.

Since joining Shipley Energy in 2004, Gruno has taken on a variety of key leadership positions within the company, including operations, natural-gas sales and marketing, transportation and logistics, human resources, environmental and safety.

Established in 1929, York, Pa.-based Shipley Energy is the largest privately owned energy company supplying both commercial and residential electricity, natural gas, propane, heating oil and heating and cooling service throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland. Along with its convenience stores, the company also operates a wholesale fuels business in the mid-Atlantic region and provides on-site fleet fueling solutions to businesses.
