Part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

The health fairs included health care professionals conducting blood-pressure screenings and glucose testing. Other activities varied by location, but included cornhole, basketball, dog washing, pet adoption, live bands, truck windshield washing and more. Sleep apnea specialists and fitness coaches were at some locations, as well. Wellness walks took place at some of the events.

The chain held events at 15 TA and Petro locations on Sept. 16.:

  • TA, Tonopah, Ariz.
  • Petro, North Little Rock, Ark.
  • Shawn Hubbard Ontario Petro Stopping Center, Ontario, Calif.
  • TA, Wildwood, Fla.
  • TA, Cartersville, Ga.
  • TA, Boise, Idaho
  • TA, Clayton, Ind.

  • Petro, Waterloo, N.Y.
  • TA, Lodi, Ohio
  • TA, Harrisburg, Pa.
  • TA, West Greenwich, R.I.

TA and Petro are qualified to host these health fairs given their focus on driver health through the StayFit program, launched nearly five ago, to assist professional drivers in getting more healthy and fit, the company said. The StayFit program includes healthier meal options at TA and Petro full-service restaurants and better-for-you snack options in the Travel Stores. Additionally, chain offers free fitness rooms, walking trails and basketball courts at a variety of locations nationwide.

The company said it believes that helping to raise awareness of health issues affecting professional truck drivers, as well as helping drivers to make health improvements, is part of showing drivers the respect they deserve.
