Tevis Oil Named Small Business of the Year

Fourth honor for c-store retailer in past five years

WESTMINSTER, Md. -- The Carroll County, Md., Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Department of Economic Development honored convenience-store retailer Tevis Oil as its Small Business of the Year in its business class.

Tevis Oil, which does business as Jiffy Mart, received the award in the 51-200 employees class.

Jiffy Mart and Tevis Motor Fuel has been recognized with this award four times in the past five years. In 2014, the company was awarded at the state level from the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, being recognized as small business of the year.

Tevis Oil was formed in 1932. Tevis Motor Fuel began servicing its first service station in 1935. In 1981, Tevis Oil diversified into the convenience-store industry. In Carroll County, currently there are four Tevis Oil-owned and -operated convenience stores operating under the Jiffy Mart Brand. There are four leased convenience stores/service stations; two branded Shell, one branded BP and one unbranded. There are three additional locations outside of the county.
