AMARILLO, Texas — Toot’n Totum will open five new retail outlets of several sizes throughout Amarillo, Texas, beginning in early 2020, and it plans to hire more than 300 employees as the convenience-store retailer expands in its home market, reported KFDA.

With approximately 80 stores, Toot’n Totum is No. 84 in CSP’s2019 Top 202 ranking of c-store chains by the number of retail locations it owns. It is also No. 13 in CSP’s2019 Top 50 Most Effective Fuel Brands.

The first new c-store in Amarillo “will be a small one with a drive-thru window [and] four gasoline pumps because it’s a small pad site,” Toot’n Totum President Greg Mitchell told the news outlet. “That’s under construction right now and should open within six weeks.”

The other locations are in various stages of development, the report said.

One of the locations will be a travel center, Mitchell said. “It has taken us over five years, and we are just now ready to kick that one off,” he said.

That location will be 16,000 square feet and have two fast-food restaurants, 10 fueling positions for diesel trucks, a CAT scale, 24 fueling positions for cars, a separate canopy for RVs and trucks, 120 overnight parking spaces, a dog park, children’s playground and 10-12 acres of land for additional retail.

“Toot’n Totum is iconic to Amarillo. We are going into our 70th year, and that’s a big thing for us,” said Mitchell.

The new jobs include full-time and part-time positions. The chain also offers college students a tuition plan to help pay for college.
