Fuel and energy supplier Vexxil Energy, in partnership with investment management firm 68 Ventures, will begin opening convenience stores on the Gulf Coast by the fall of 2025.
These new stores, to be locally operated by Vexxil Energy, Daphne, Alabama, will be “designed to serve the Gulf Coast communities with exceptional service, modern amenities and a focus on meeting the unique needs of local residents and businesses,” the company said in a LinkedIn post announcing the retail initiative. “The stores … are more than just a convenience store.”
Vexxil Energy did not indicate how many stores the partnership plans to open.
The locations will offer modern amenities “designed with the customer’s experience in mind, built on convenience 4.0 principles, offering the ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC convenience brand and featuring a full-scale make-to-order kitchen,” as well as “locally sourced goods highlighting Gulf Coast-made items to support local producers.”
ExtraMile Convenience Stores is No. 8 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by total number of company-owned stores.
The stores will also offer Top-Tier fuel solutions featuring Chevron fuel products.
“We at ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC [and] Chevron are extremely excited to partner up with Vexxil Energy in supporting their growth throughout the Alabama Gulf region,” Brad Wolford, regional sales manager for ExtraMile, Pleasanton, California, said in a LinkedIn post. ExtraMile is a joint venture between Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and Jacksons Food Stores, Meridian, Idaho.
In May 2024, ExtraMile opened its first location in Louisiana, a new Texaco-branded store in Mandeville, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, near New Orleans.
ExtraMile has aggressive growth plans for the next several years, Brian Sardelich, president of ExtraMile Convenience Stores, told CSP Daily News in June. The new stores include a mix of new-to-industry c-stores as well as conversions of some existing stores, he said. “We’re expecting in the Southeast to be adding 100 sites-plus a year over the next several years,” he said.
Gulf Energy rebranded as Vexxil Energy last October. 68 Ventures is also based in Daphne, Alabama.
