
Wawa is opening its first convenience store in West Virginia, its 13th state. The store is in Inwood, Berkley County. It is set to open Sept. 25.
The Wawa, Pennsylvania-based convenience-store chain plans to open three-to-five new Wawa stores in the Berkeley and Jefferson County markets over the next three-to-five years.
To build each store, Wawa will invest approximately $7.5 million and employ, on average, 140 contractors and local partners. Once open, each store will employ an average of 35 associates, with Wawa expecting to create approximately 250 long-term new jobs as a result of expansion in West Virginia.
It will be located about 175 miles from the company's base in Wawa, Pennsylvania.
Wawa is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the grand opening, with free merchandise, coffee, the launch of its Lending a Helping Hoagie charity campaign and a hoagie-building competition.
