Wawa has opened a c-store at Villanova University. The campus store in the Philadelphia suburbs features Wawa treats such as hoagies, coffee and more, according to a post on the university’s website.

“We’ve officially opened at Villanova University, bringing our [next-generation] design into the Connelly Center renovation just in time to welcome students back,” Adrian Cortes, manager of architectural design at Wawa, posted Thursday on LinkedIn. “Even more exciting, this store introduces the Wawa brand and offer to many students who may be experiencing this East Coast favorite for the first time!”

In addition to cash and credit, the Wawa at Villanova accepts points and Nova Bucks, a type of debit account for students. The store is on the lower level of the Connelly Center, a 67,000-square-foot building that includes an art gallery, lounges, meeting rooms, coffee shop, ice cream shop, dining facility and more, the school’s website said.

Wawa President and CEO Chris Gheysens graduated from Villanova School of Business in 1993, according to the school’s website.

  • Wawa is No. 10 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.

It's not Wawa’s first time on a college campus—the retailer opened an all-digital store in August 2023 at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Cortes also noted in his post that Wawa’s first travel center was opening the week of Aug. 25.

Wawa, Pennsylvania-based Wawa, a privately held company, operates more than 965 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington, D.C. The stores offer a large fresh foodservice selection, including Wawa brands such as custom prepared hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, specialty beverages and an assortment of soups, sides and snacks.
