CHICAGO — On this edition of Winsight Live, CSP and Winsight Grocery Business editors explore the recent partnership between 7-Eleven and Instacart—the first collaboration between the online grocer and a national convenience-store chain.
The multi-phase launch—revealed on Sept. 2—involves more than 750 7-Eleven stores in Dallas, Miami, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, with plans to expand to more than 7,000 stores.
Based in Irving, Texas, 7–Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 71,100 7-Eleven c-stores in 17 countries, including more than 9,300 in the United States. It is No. 1 on CSP's 2020 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by size.
San Francisco-based Instacart is an online grocer with same-day delivery and pickup services in the United States and Canada. Instacart has partnered with more than 400 national and regional retailers such as Albertsons, Aldi, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Loblaw, Publix, Sam's Club, Sprouts and Wegmans, among others.
