Yesway has hired former 7-Eleven and Cal’s Convenience veteran Chuck Sanders as its vice president of merchandising.
The Fort Worth, Texas-based convenience-store chain announced Tuesday that Sanders would be joining the company and reporting to Chief Marketing and Merchandising Officer Ray Harrison, who was hired in September.

Sanders (pictured below) will lead Yesway’s merchandising organization and help improve and develop Yesway’s long-term merchandising strategy, the company said. He’ll oversee all aspects of Yesway’s merchandising function, including P&L ownership, category management, assortment optimization, vendor partnerships, strategic pricing and planogram development.

“We are incredibly pleased to welcome Chuck to Yesway,” Harrison said. “His depth of experience, his results-driven mindset and his ability to build strong partnerships will be invaluable as we elevate our merchandising capabilities and continue delivering outstanding value to our customers. Chuck is a seasoned leader, and we are excited about the impact he will make across our organization.”
Sanders has more than two decades of experience in the convenience and grocery industries, previously working at 7-Eleven, Cal’s Convenience and Brookshire Grocery Company. His experience includes overseeing more than $2 billion in annual category sales, delivering sustained revenue and margin growth and securing substantial supplier funding and national partnerships, Yesway said. Throughout his career, Sanders has also built and mentored high-performing teams, the company said, and he’s known for his analytical approach and customer-centric mindset.
“I am thrilled to be joining Yesway,” Sanders said. “This is an innovative, fast-growing organization with a clear vision and a strong commitment to serving its customers and communities. I look forward to partnering with Ray, the leadership team, and the talented merchandising organization to build on the company's momentum and help drive the next phase of growth.”
Yesway has more than 440 stores across nine states in the Midwest and Southwest. Yesway is owned by BW Gas & Convenience Holdings, which joined the c-store industry in late 2015. Yesway skyrocketed its growth in 2019 when it acquired Clovis, New Mexico-based Allsup’s and its 304 stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
