CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Friends and former colleagues said goodbye to convenience-store veteran Norman “Zane” Power, who died from cancer in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Oct. 6. He was 66. Power worked for ConocoPhillips for 35 years and, as a category manager and in other roles, was a fixture at industry events.
Power was born May 22, 1954, in Hamlet, N.C. Before retiring in late 2013, he was vice president of micro-markets for Five Star Foodservice, a Chattanooga, Tenn.-based vending company.
During his long career with Houston-based ConocoPhillips, then owner of the Circle K brand, Power was a category manager and category director, among other roles, primary in the tobacco category, as well as for snacks and candy.
Power is survived by his wife, Teresa, whom he married in 1977, and by his son, Damien, and his daughter-in-law Mandy, among other family and friends.
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tenn., will hold a memorial service on Oct. 17. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Zane’s memory.
