A half-dozen items are back on the menu at York, Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s convenience stores.

The six, all of which Rutter’s calls “fan favorites,” are:

  • Kick’n Chicken and Waffles
  • Grilled Mac and Cheese
  • BBQ Roast Beef Sub with Onion Rings
  • Italiano
  • Spicy Italiano
  • Powerhouse Chicken Parm

The first three items are available through September. The Italiano, Spicy Italiano and Mozzarella Chicken Parm Sub are permanent menu additions.

“The Kick’n Chicken and Waffles tantalizes taste buds with a spicy fried chicken fillet drenched in Frank's Buffalo sauce, adorned with pepper jack cheese, pickles, and coleslaw, all nestled between sweet maple Belgian waffles,” said Rutter’s, which will open its first store in Virginia next year. It sells for $5.99.

Rutter’s, which in another promotion also is bringing back Spam, calls its Grilled Mac and Cheese “the ultimate comfort food with a twist.” It features creamy white cheddar mac and cheese layered between slices of cheddar cheese and two slices of white bread. It’s topped with crispy bacon. It sells for $3.99.

  • Rutter’s is No. 78 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

The BBQ Roast Beef Sub is loaded with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce, roast beef, sweet peppers, provolone cheese and onion rings—and is served on an Amoroso sub roll. The price is $6.99.

The Italiano sub features authentic imported meats, including mortadella, salami and prosciutto, paired with crisp lettuce and juicy tomatoes and drizzled with olive oil, vinegar and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning. That sub becomes the Spicy Italiano with the addition of hot pepper relish. Both are $6.99 each.

Finally, the Powerhouse Chicken Parm “takes the classic chicken parm sub to the next level by integrating mozzarella sticks into it,” Rutter’s said. “Experience pure delight with golden brown mozzarella sticks, savory marinara sauce and gooey provolone cheese, all in an Amoroso sub roll for a nice crunch. It sells for $7.99.

Rutter’s, a privately held chain, operates 84 locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.
