Burger King Names DeClouet to Ops Post

Exec was in charge of Quickstuff c-stores for Jack in the Box

MIAMI -- Burger King Corp. has appointed Gladys DeClouet as senior vice president of North America company operations. Formerly, she was vice president of operations for Jack in the Box, with responsibility for restaurants and for the company-owned Quickstuff-branded convenience store and fuel locations. She has also held positions with BP and Conoco.

At Miami-based Burger King, DeClouet succeeds Dave Gagnon, who announced his intention to leave the company at the end of the fiscal year. She will be responsible for all operations and the profitability of the United States and Canadian [image-nocss] company-owned restaurants. She reports to Chuck Fallon, president, North America.

"In this vital role, Gladys will continue to drive operations excellence through our restaurants," Fallon said. "We will continue to provide our guests with high quality and convenience at affordable prices, and a consistent brand experience. In addition, she will oversee our ongoing strategic reimaging efforts that we believe will increase restaurant traffic and drive sales. Gladys' strong operations and finance background will ensure that our restaurants continue to grow profitably while increasing our guests' satisfaction through operational improvements."

In the role of vice president of operations for Jack in the Box, DeClouet had responsibility for more than 900 company-operated restaurants with $1.8 billion in sales. She also oversaw the operations of Jack in the Box's company-owned Quickstuff-branded c-store and fuel locations. Prior to joining Jack in the Box, she worked for British Petroleum Inc., holding a number of positions of increasing responsibility in marketing, distribution, planning, finance and business development. Earlier in her career, she was an engineer with Conoco Inc.

"I am confident that my past experiences in developing and managing great teams will enable us to build upon the recent successes in sales expansion through strategic initiatives including new company restaurant openings, reimaging efforts and the delivery of exceptional guest service," DeClouet said.

The Burger King system operates more than 11,300 restaurants in all 50 states and in 69 countries and U.S. territories worldwide.
