EG America has entered into an agreement with Krispy Krunchy Chicken to open the fried chicken concept in locations under several of its convenience-store banners, primarily Cumberland Farms. The first five locations will launch inside Cumberland Farms stores across the Florida Panhandle, beginning with the Santa Rosa Beach store, which will open on Sept. 22.
The retailer is converting select Tom Thumb c-stores in northern Florida to Cumberland Farms, and they will feature Krispy Krunchy Chicken units, an EG American spokesperson told CSP.
- EG America is No. 6 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.
“We’re excited to bring Krispy Krunchy Chicken and their highly craveable menu items to our North Florida locations,” said Brian Ferguson, chief marketing officer for EG America. “Cumberland Farms is a daily destination for millions thanks to our exceptional coffee, fast and friendly service and unmatched convenience. Partnering with Krispy Krunchy allows us to elevate the food experience even further by delivering the quality and flavor our customers want, right when they need it.”
In addition to Santa Rosa Beach, Krispy Krunchy plans to open locations with Cumberland Farms in Destin, Gulf Breeze, Navarre and Panama City, Florida. They will announce more later this year. The companies expect all of the Florida Panhandle sites to open by the end of 2025.
“Our launch with Cumberland Farms in Florida is an important step for us, as it strengthens our presence in a key market and aligns Krispy Krunchy with one of the most recognized convenience-store brands in the country,” said Jim Norberg, CEO of Krispy Krunchy Chicken. “We’re building tremendous momentum, now serving all 48 contiguous states, and this collaboration highlights the strength of our premium offerings and the kind of partnerships they continue to attract.”
Atlanta-based Krispy Krunchy Chicken operates more than 3,400 quick-serve restaurant (QSR) units in all 48 of the contiguous United States, it said, selling more than a million pounds of chicken every week. The company provides foodservice solutions for convenience stores, truck stops, universities, casinos, sports arenas and more. Founded in Louisiana in 1989, the store-in-store concept allows licensees to serve hand-breaded, Cajun-spiced fried chicken and all-white meat jumbo tenders to customers to increase their in-store profitability and drive frequency. The full menu also includes a variety of sides and the brand's trademark honey biscuits.
Along with Cumberland Farms, Westborough, Massachusetts-based EG America operates more than 1,500 retail locations under nine other convenience-store banners, including Certified Oil, Fastrac, Kwik Shop, Loaf ‘N Jug, Minit Mart, Quik Stop, Sprint Food Stores, Tom Thumb and Turkey Hill. It is owned by Blackburn, U.K.-based fuel and convenience retailer EG Group.
