MINNEAPOLIS -- Deli Express has opened a newly remodeled 30,000 sq.-ft. production facility in Eden Prairie, Minn.
On February 15, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty visited the facility to kick off its grand-opening ribbon cutting and to address employees. This new Deli Express facility is unique in the fact that our employees, led by our engineer Ed Carew, developed the entire design," said Thomas E. Sween, chairman and CEO of Deli Express. "Using a process called Kaizen Breakthrough Events,' we were able to complete this major project in 12 weeks after [image-nocss] a total of 40 Kaizen Events.
Key benefits from this major remodel give Deli Express a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for ready-to-eat (RTE) products that features flexibility, improved people and product flow and improved food safety.
Deli Express, a division of the E.A. Sween Co., is a major supplier of hot and cold sandwiches to the U.S. convenience store industry.
