Dispense With the Niceties: 7-Eleven Introduces 5 New Big Gulp Flavors
By Chuck Ulie on Jul. 08, 2021IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven has been unleashing a flurry of promotions lately, from a $1 cup that keeps Slurpees colder for longer, to a breakfast taquito available around the clock, to its latest: five new, nontraditional fountain drink flavors for the convenience-store retailer's Big Gulp, which it introduced in the 1980s.
“We’re excited to offer these new, great-tasting beverages at an equally great value to celebrate people starting to return to their normal daily routines,” said Jawad Bisbis, 7‑Eleven vice president of proprietary beverages. “Picking up a Big Gulp on the way to class or work or running errands has always been a bright spot in our customer’s day. Now, we are proud to offer them choices they aren’t used to seeing on the fountain, like refreshing sparkling flavored water and a zero-calorie sports drink.”
Customers can earn and redeem points on most purchases, as well as take advantage of offers, exclusive discounts and interactive features through 7Rewards, the proprietary loyalty program in the 7–Eleven app. 7‑Eleven fans can purchase a Big Gulp, snacks and more without leaving home or even the poolside or beach via 7‑Eleven Delivery, found on the 7NOW delivery app and the 7‑Eleven app. Offered in more than 1,300 U.S. cities, 7‑Eleven delivery offers real-time tracking that lets customers know when to expect their orders, typically in 30 minutes or less.

- vitaminwater zero squeezed: Sweetened with erythritol and stevia, this zero-sugar vitamin water beverage is the first zero-sugar enhanced water on the fountain, and it contains electrolytes, vitamins B, C, and E and minerals
Sour Patch mystery
The South Patch Kids brand is introducing a new flavor this summer, but they’re not disclosing what it is. Fans must guess the new “sour, then sweet” mystery flavor in the South Patch Kids Sweepstakes and Instant Win Game.
While the mystery flavor can be found in mixed flavor packages elsewhere, 7-Eleven said guessers will want to stop at one of its c-stores because that’s the only place to score a Mystery Kids flavor-only package of Sour Patch Kids candy.
A winning guess could be worth $50,000 or one of almost 200 other prizes, including a camera, tablet, mini drone and a detective pack to solve the next big case.
Available at participating 7-Eleven stores while supplies last, the 8-ounce sharable package of Mystery Kids Flavor has a suggested retail price of $2.89.
The sweepstakes and instant win contest runs through Aug.15. Details on how to enter can be found on back of specially marked packages. No purchase or text is required to enter.
Clues can be found on packages and will be posted weekly on the Sour Patch Kids social channels: Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
94th birthday
7-Eleven’s observed birthday, July 11, nears, and to celebrate 94 years, it’s making the party last a month and is planning several gifts:
- On July 1, the c-store chain dropped one free small Slurpee coupon into the accounts of all 7Rewards loyalty app members. The offer is redeemable any day in July.
- 7-Eleven also is giving 1 million meals to Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, building on the chain’s 21-year history of support.
- All roller grill items, including Big Bite hot dogs, tasty taquitos, Cheeseburger Bite rollers, Buffalo chicken rollers and eggrolls, are $1 each in July.
- 7-Eleven is offering free delivery on July 11 of the free small Slurpee, and delivery is free on any order (Slurpee or no Slurpee) during the 7-Eleven Day birthday weekend (July 10-11).
- Other delivery deals in July include whole pizzas for $5 and a $10 pizza and 16 boneless wings combo, plus dollar deals on grill items, Free Triton and Quake energy drinks and more.
- 7-Eleven will sell colorful birthday cake doughnuts for 50 cents, limit one per person, at participating stores on July 11 for 7Rewards loyalty app members.
Cold cup
A new cup 7-Eleven is selling for $1 promises to keep Slurpees colder for longer. The chain is rolling out the cup alongside the new Slurpee Peach Perfect flavor, which is made with real juice.
"As temperatures are rising, we're helping customers cool down with a new twist on an old favorite," said Jawad Bisbis, 7‑Eleven vice president of proprietary beverages. "With the release of our new stay-cold Slurpee cup and a $1 small Slurpee drink deal, along with the exclusive Peach Perfect Slurpee flavor, our customers can sip their way out of any heat wave!"
This cold-cup promotion comes on the heels of the recent milestone of 7-Eleven updating store No. 1,000 to a new, elevated food and beverage platform. The platform includes espresso, nitro cold brew, tea and bean-to-cup coffee, as well as bake-in-store cookies and pastries.
Anytime breakfast taquitos
7-Eleven is promoting new taquitos—filled with smoky bacon; scrambled eggs; cheddar, pepper Jack and Monterrey Jack cheeses; and diced potatoes—as a breakfast item, but the chain offers them around the clock. Wrapped in a crispy flour tortilla, they have a suggested price of $1.49.
For a limited time, 7Rewards members will earn a 200-point bonus with each purchase, and customers can also order the new taquitos through the 7NOW delivery app.
“Morning is a busy time for most 7-Eleven stores, but it’s not the only time of day that people want breakfast,” Product Director Robin Murphy said. “Traditional mealtimes have been blurring for years, with snacks substituting bigger meals or meals occurring at nontraditional times. 7-Eleven’s breakfast taquito is a versatile and great-tasting snack or meal option for any time of day, from early morning to late at night.”
