CANTON, Mass. — Quick-service restaurant (QSR) chain Dunkin’ will introduce the Beyond Sausage Sandwich at all U.S. locations Nov. 6., the company said.

Dunkin’ first debuted the plant-based sandwich in a test kitchen in New York in July. It became one of the top-selling items during this period and drove Dunkin’ to accelerate the national launch, the company said.

"We are extremely proud of our partnership with Beyond Meat and thrilled to be the first U.S. quick-service restaurant to offer Beyond Breakfast Sausage nationwide,” said Dave Hoffman, president of Dunkin’ U.S. and CEO of Dunkin’ Brands. “Dunkin' is the brand that democratizes trends for America, and this latest addition to our menu gives consumers more choice to meet their evolving needs. As we continue to transform our brand, we're proud to use our platform to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the great taste and benefits of plant-based protein."

The sandwich, produced by Beyond Meat, El Segundo, Calif., is made with 100% plant-based protein and a mix of specialty crafted spices and is served on an English muffin with egg and American cheese. Each patty contains 10 grams of protein and has 29% less fat, 33% less saturated fat, fewer calories, cholesterol and sodium than Dunkin’s traditional Sausage, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich.

Dunkin’ will host a free sandwich-tasting event Nov. 8-9 to celebrate the launch.

"We're excited to introduce the Beyond Sausage Sandwich nationwide and, in doing so, offer an option with fewer calories, less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium, while delivering more protein and iron than a comparable pork sausage sandwich," said Ethan Brown, founder and CEO of Beyond Meat. "We are excited that everyone who runs on Dunkin' now has the option to make a delicious plant-based sausage sandwich part of their day."

Convenience stores have also caught the plant-based meat bug. Just weeks ago, Rutter’s, York, Pa., and GetGo Cafe & Market, division of Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle, introduced the Perfect Burger and the Impossible Burger, respectively, on their menus.

Beyond Meat produces plant-based meat substitutes such as burgers, chicken strips and beef crumbles. Its products are in more than 11,000 stores nationwide.

Canton, Mass.-based Dunkin’ has nearly 13,000 locations in 43 countries. The QSR chain is a division of Dunkin’ Brands Inc.
