Emerson Introduces New Refrigeration Systems

Company says both are low-maintenance and energy-efficient

ST. LOUIS — Commercial engineering company Emerson Electric Co. has rolled out two new pieces of foodservice equipment: the Copeland Indoor Modular Solution and the Copeland Scroll Digital Outdoor Refrigeration Unit X-Line Series.

The Copeland Indoor Modular Solution is a low-maintenance, all-in-one refrigeration system. It combines Copeland Scroll variable-speed compressors with Emerson’s ProAct Connect enterprise management software and lifecycle services. The system is designed for display cases and other foodservice applications that use distributed architectures. It also integrates refrigeration equipment with facility controls so operators can manage its data.

The Copeland Indoor Modular Solution offers:

  • Plug-in refrigeration flexibility for fast development cycles and rollout of stores.
  • Lower global warming potential (GWP) and energy-efficient refrigeration for improved operations.
  • Low profile and quiet system for enhanced in-store customer experiences.
  • Advanced electronics with seamless integration into facility controls for data management.
  • Enterprise services enabled platform with remote monitoring, which can help owners and operators manage food quality and safety.

“This product offers what Emerson refers to as the ‘six S’s’: sustainable, simple, stable, serviceable, secure and smart,” said Diego Marafon, refrigeration scroll product manager for Emerson. “It thereby elevates the industry standard by helping customers meet their critical operating objectives for full-store performance and maintenance optimization, food quality and safety, and an optimal in-store shopping experience.”

The Copeland Scroll Digital Outdoor Refrigeration Unit X-Line Series provides refrigeration for medium-temperature walk-in coolers and display cases. Like the Indoor Modular Solution, it uses Emerson’s Copeland Scroll compressor technology, as well as large-capacity condenser coils and variable-speed fan motor controls. It has a continuous capacity modulation from 20% to 100% and can provide temperature control, reduced compressor cycling and lower energy consumption. It can be applied to multiple evaporator systems. The X-Line Digital unit can also maintain box temperatures within 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit, which allows foodservice operators to control the temperature of their food.

The X-Line Series can alert and record alarms independently or communicate with facility management control systems. Its slim profile, lightweight design and wall-mount option give operators the flexibility to install the unit in tight locations. This can also help to lower installation costs and avoid expensive system designs.

“The X-Line Digital was designed with c-store, small-format store and restaurant operators in mind,” said Julie Havenar, product manager of condensing unit for Emerson. “With rising energy rates and ever-increasing customer expectations, the pressures on operators to be competitive are as strong as ever, prompting many to reevaluate their refrigeration strategies. With the X-Line Digital condensing units, we set out to redefine refrigeration and to help ease those pressures with improved energy savings, reliability and lower maintenance and installation costs.”

St. Louis-based Emerson manufactures products and provides engineering services for a variety of industrial, commercial and consumer markets. Its core platforms include automation solutions and commercial and residential solutions.
