Farmer Bros. Names New President and CEO

Joins company from Earthbound Farm Organic

NORTHLAKE, Texas —Farmer Bros. Co., a national coffee roaster, wholesaler and distributor of coffee, tea and culinary products, has named Deverl Maserang its president, CEO and a member of the company’s board, effective Sept. 13.

Maserang succeeds Chris Mottern, who was named interim CEO in May 2019 after former leader Michael Keown stepped down after seven years in the role. Mottern will work closely with Maserang to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities and will remain a member of the board, the company said.

“On behalf of the board, I am pleased to welcome Deverl to Farmer Bros. at this important time for our company and industry," said Randy Clark, chairman of Farmer Bros. “Deverl is a highly accomplished executive with a proven track record of success in business turnarounds and operational excellence, especially in the food and beverage industry. I am confident that under his leadership and with the recent momentum of change at all levels of the company that we are well-positioned to make even greater operational improvements across our organization.”

Maserang has more than three decades of leadership experience in food and beverage industry. Prior to joining Farmer Bros., he was president and CEO of produce brand Earthbound Farm Organic. Maserang has also held multiple senior positions at food and beverage companies including Starbucks, Chiquita Brands and Pepsi Bottling Group.

Based in Northlake, Texas, Farmer Bros. works with a variety of customers, including independent foodservice operators, restaurant and convenience-store chains, hotels, casinos, healthcare facilities, gourmet coffeehouses and grocery chains. The company's primary brands include Farmer Bros., Artisan Collection by Farmer Bros., Superior, Metropolitan, China Mist and Boyds.
