GetGo Gets Food Safety Award

Allegheny County Food Advisory Board honors grocer c-store

PITTSBURGH -- GetGo from Giant Eagle, the Pittsburgh-based convenience store retailer, has received a 2005 Excellence In Food Protection Award from the Allegheny County Food Advisory Board.

The 14th annual award recognizes continuing commitment in food safety and sanitation in a food facility.

The 4,500-sq.-ft. GetGo in West Mifflin was selected by the Food Advisory Board for the award. This location exceeded the guidelines established for the award by being in compliance with the food protection regulations, that food operations [image-nocss] had no public health conditions that posed a risk to consumers, employees are certified in food protection during all hours of operation and no foodborne illnesses existed during the past 12 months.

We are very proud of the outstanding food safety record of our GetGo locations, said Giant Eagle Dan Pastor, vice president of fuel and convenience. It's a testimony to our GetGo employees and store management that maintain the quality standards for food and service our customers have come to expect from GetGo and Giant Eagle. We're appreciative of the recognition and will continue to work hard to maintain that trust.

GetGo from Giant Eagle fuel stations and convenience stores are located throughout western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. They offer customers a variety of convenience-oriented grocery items as well as Fresh To Go Meal solutions and an onsite GetGo Kitchen that provides customers with freshly prepared deli and breakfast sandwiches, subs and wraps, salads, fruit platters, vegetable cups, chicken tenders, kids meals, desserts and baked goods.
