MILFORD, Conn. -- The Subway restaurant chain has been honored with a pair of awards bestowed by North America's road warriorsvacationers traveling in their recreational vehicles, and from professional moving van drivers guiding their cargoes from coast to coast.
The Good Sam Club, which is the world's largest membership organization of recreational vehicle owners, selected Subway restaurants as the best sandwich shop in America, citing the chain for its commitment to making good sandwiches at affordable prices, and for offering a more RV-friendly environment [image-nocss] than any other sandwich shop.
In addition, a recent survey by Atlas Van Lines showed more Atlas van operators are trading in burgers and fries for healthier fare, Subway said. In their 2005 Best of the Road Atlas driver survey, 26% of respondents said they preferred Subway restaurants, now placed at the top of Atlas' fast food preference chart.
Our annual survey is designed to be a fun way to show emerging trends and preferences on the driving side of the relocation industry. These are the opinions of an extremely hard working group of men and women, said Greg Hoover, Atlas senior vice president and chief marketing officer.
Subway franchisees Chris and Cyndi Griffin, of Bend, Ore., said that convenience matters for motorists. The Griffins represented Subway franchisees at the Good Sam Club's Fourth Annual Welcome Mat Awards, during the Great American RV Rally in Redmond, Ore.
It's an honor to receive this national recognition from the members of the Good Sam Club, said Chris Griffin.
Headquartered in Milford, Conn., the Subway restaurant chain has more than 24,000 locations in 83 countries.
