RICHMOND, Va. Customers can cool off this summer with the new Tangerango flavor in one of the 823 GPM convenience stores that now carry Frazil slushie machines.

The rollout has grown to more than 900 units in more than 800 GPM locations, and GPM is marking the expansion with the Tangerango flavor in a limited-time offer (LTO) from May 19 to Sept. 7.

GPM brands include Fas Mart, Shore Stop, Scotchman, BreadBox, Young's, Li'l CricketNext Door Store, Village PantryApple MarketJiffi StopAdmiralRoadrunner MarketsJiffy Food MartsE-Z Mart1 Stop and TownStar.  There is not 100% coverage due to space restrictions.

In summer 2020, GPM consolidated under one unified slushie program to entice customers to try new flavors. GPM partnered with Frazil to deliver convenient drink offerings. The initial rollout included adding more than 600 Frazil machines in more than 500 stores.

Tangerango is a fusion of two popular flavors, tangerine and mango. Throughout the summer, GPM will offer other LTOs as part of its 100 Days of Summer promotion.

“At GPM, we’re focused on providing our customers with high-quality products they can enjoy every time they visit our stores,” said Jim Rastetter, GPM’s category manager of dispensed beverages. “We know that Frazil has proven to delight our customers, so we’re excited for the rollout into even more stores, including a variety of delicious and unique flavors.”

GPM was also one of the first chains to roll out Frazil’s new “internet-of-things” (IoT)-connected slush machine. This technology allows Frazil to remotely monitor the machines to confirm all are on, working and full to ensure a consistent operating experience across GPMs network of stores.

Kyle Freebairn, CEO of Freezing Point LLC, which owns Frazil, said, “Since the beginning, GPM had a strong vision of what they wanted from their frozen beverage category, and Frazil closely aligned with that vision to delight consumers with high-quality offerings.”

Richmond, Va.-based GPM operates or supplies convenience stores in 33 states and Washington, D.C. It has about 3,000 locations comprised of about 1,350 company-operated stores and 1,600 dealer sites to which it supplies fuel. GPM operates in three segments: retail, which consists of fuel and merchandise sales to retail consumers; wholesale, which supplies fuel to third-party dealers and consignment agents; and GPM Petroleum, which supplies fuel to GPM and its subsidiaries selling fuel both in the retail and wholesale segments, as well as subwholesalers and bulk purchasers.
