Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Partners With PBS

Launches PBS Blend

WATERBURY, Vt. -- Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. and PBS have introduced PBS Blend, a new Fair Trade Certified organic coffee.

PBS Blend is offered in whole bean in 10-oz. packages and single-serve K-Cups for use in Keurig Single-Cup brewers. PBS Blend supports public television's programming and educational services.

It is grown in the rain forests surrounding the El Triunfo Biosphere in Mexico.

PBS Blend carries the Fair Trade Certified label, which guarantees farmers a fair price for their coffee [image-nocss] harvest and enables them to reinvest in their communities. In addition, PBS Blend is environmentally friendly. A certified organic coffee, its beans were grown using agricultural practices that preserve biodiversity and vital habitats for migratory birds and other wildlife.

We are pleased to be working with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, which shares PBS's commitment to social responsibility and community education, said Andrea Downing, vice president of home entertainment and partnerships. This partnership allows PBS a new way to engage and inform consumers around a quality product, provides them with another way to support public television through their every day lifestyle choices and purchases, and ensures that our member stations can continue to deliver a valuable public service in their communities.

Robert Stiller, president of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, said, This collaboration with PBS reinforces our belief that when like-minded organizations join together, they can be an agent for positive change. We admire PBS and its member stations' focus on public service and education, as well as its longstanding reputation as a trusted community resource. This delicious coffee provides us with new avenues for supporting our global community and advancing public education about Fair Trade.

PBS serves 354 public noncommercial TV stations and reaches almost 90 million people each week through on-air and online content. Bringing diverse viewpoints to TV and the Internet, PBS provides documentary and dramatic entertainment. It is a major provider of educational materials for K-12 teachers, and offers a variety of other educational services.

Waterbury, Vt.-based Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, sells more than 100 selections, including Fair Trade Certified and organic coffees under the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and Newman's Own Organics brands. While the majority of the company's revenue is derived from its wholesale, direct mail and e-commerce operations, it also owns Keurig Inc., a manufacturer of gourmet single-cup brewing systems. Keurig markets premium single-cup (K-Cup) coffee brewing systems for the office and the home while the Company licenses, manufactures and sells Green Mountain coffee and tea K-Cups for offices, homes and other venues.
