High’s Launches Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes

BALTIMORE, Md. — Convenience-store retailer High’s of Baltimore—also known as High’s Dairy Stores—is bring fresh seafood to its foodservice program.

Through a partnership with New Market, Md.-based Trout’s Supreme Seafood, High’s has launched Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cake at 41 of its 49 stores. The crab cakes are available as both a standalone sandwich or as part of a platter meal. The platter includes a choice of one or two crab cakes and comes with both cole slaw and potato wedges. The crab cakes are served with a variety of toppings such as Old Bay seasoning, cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and Saval mustard, as well as fresh lettuce and sliced tomato.

The crab cake sandwich is available at all High’s locations that offer foodservice, while the platter is only at stores that have a High’s Kitchen program.

“High’s takes pride in their hometown heritage and continues to find ways to celebrate Maryland in their food offerings,” said Sherryn Diamond, foodservice director of High’s. “Nothing is more authentic than a Maryland Crab Cake.” 

As a part of a larger strategy to elevate its foodservice program, High’s has also launched a series of new items at most stores, including rotisserie wings, bean-to-cup coffee and baked goods.

“We considered many of Baltimore’s well-known restaurants in our search to provide the best crab cake for our customers,” said Dallas Wells, vice president of foodservice for High’s. “Our crab cake is quality, local and authentic made with lump and jumbo lump crab meat. This signature item is authentic for the Maryland Crab Cake connoisseur, as well as a real delight for customers looking for unique, delicious local fare.”

Baltimore, Md.-based High’s operates 49 convenience stores in the Mid-Atlantic region. The company is a is a subsidiary of the Carroll Independent Fuel Co., a 105-year-old family-owned, Baltimore-based supplier of motor fuel products.  It is No. 124 on CSP's 2020 Top 202 ranking of c-store chains by size.
