Jumbo Foods Recalls More Sandwiches

No illnesses reported

MUKILTEO, Wash. -- Jumbo Foods Inc. is recalling 1,360 Tuscan Sun Turkey sandwiches with a production code of 35E because it has the potential to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, said the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

No illnesses have been reported to date, said the Mukilteo, Wash.-based company.

The sandwiches were distributed in Washington, Oregon and Northern California in convenience stores. They are contained in plastic packaging, net weight 5.9-oz, (167g). The code of 35E is located adjacent to [image-nocss] the UPC code on the front label.

The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the Washington State Department of Agriculture, which revealed that the Tuscan Sun Turkey sandwiches contained the bacteria. Jumbo Foods has ceased the distribution of the sandwich with that production code as the FDA and company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem.

Consumers who have purchased Tuscan Sun Turkey sandwiches with a Production Code of 35E are being urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In May, as reported in CSP Daily News, Jumbo Foods, recalled 762 Smoked Turkey on Sourdough Triple Decker Sandwiches because of the potential of contamination with listeria monocytogenes.
