RINGGOLD, Ga. -- The Kangaroo Express convenience store that was damaged extensively by a tornado in late April when a tornado ripped through Ringgold, Ga., celebrated its reopening on December 8 after a complete rebuilding of the store and gasoline dispensers. Mayor Joe Barger led the celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony announcing its open doors.
The new store features Kangaroo Express' "Fresh Initiative," including wider aisles, a broader assortment of pastries, warm breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit and fountain beverages. A new spacious serving station offers new and improved Bean Street Coffee, upgraded cups, lids and a variety of coffee flavorings. In addition, the store will offer fresh sandwiches and salads for on-the-go lunch and dinner occasions.
While rebuilding, Kangaroo Express also added energy efficient lighting, including LED lighting outside of the store. Inside the store, a reduced number of low-wattage light bulbs with white reflectors provide a greater amount of light with less energy. LED lighting will also be installed in the fuel canopies once complete.
In other company news, The Pantry has announced that Travis Haston has won free gasoline for a full year from Kangaroo Express and Marathon.
Haston will accept his grand prize at the Kangaroo Express in Charlotte, N.C., the location where he entered to win, on December 15.
The company will announce three additional winners of free gasoline for a year every Friday through December 30. Customers can enter to win by filling up with eight or more gallons of Marathon fuel at a participating Kangaroo Express Marathon location in Charlotte, N.C., Birmingham, Ala., Greenville, S.C., or Spartanburg, S.C. After fueling up, they need to text "GAS" to "67777" and enter a unique code when prompted.
