LAFAYETTE, La. — Convenience store-based quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand Krispy Krunchy Chicken has opened a new location inside a Go Mart c-store in Merida, Mexico.

This marks Krispy Krunchy Chicken's 10th location in Mexico. The other nine are in Cancun, Hermosillo and Miguel Aleman, the company said. The Cancun location, which opened in February 2019, was the brand's first expansion into Mexico.

Krispy Krunchy Chicken said it will continue expanding in “all areas that it can,” as well as in local communities.

"We are very excited to open another Krispy Krunchy Chicken location in Mexico as part of our growing family and continuing to be a part of their family, too," said Rocio Cabrera, director of international operations for Krispy Krunchy Chicken. "2019 has been a fantastic year opening in new cities and welcoming new customers to enjoy our unique flavor and menu items. Our international locations have performed very well, and we believe this location will be just as successful.”

Krispy Krunchy Chicken’s menu features its flagship fried chicken, fried seafood, honey butter biscuits and various sides, as well as newer items, such as Boneless Wings, Crispitos and State Fair Corn Dogs.

"We are already hard at work planning to open more locations in 2020 throughout Mexico, including another location in Merida,” Cabrera said. “This is a wonderful opportunity for our company, and just the beginning of many great expansions to come.”

Lafayette, La.-based Krispy Krunchy Chicken has more than 2,500 locations in 46 U.S. states, American Samoa and Mexico. Last year, Krispy Krunchy added 476 branded c-store locations. The company was founded in 1989.
