BONHAM, Texas — Convenience-store retailer Kwik Chek Food Stores has revamped its fresh food menu for the third time this year.

Kwik Chek has added protein-heavy entrees including Grilled Chicken Tenders and Smoked Pork Ribs, as well as sides such as a Fresh Steamed Broccoli Medley, Chicken Rice Pilaf, Street Corn, Fresh Cut Pineapple Cups and Strawberry Blueberry Cups. Guests can customize their chicken orders to fit their preference, with the choice of fried, spicy or sauced in addition to grilled. New salad options include a Spring Mix Side Salad, Strawberry Fields Salad and a regular Fresh Side Salad.

Kwik Chek has also debuted fresh produce in its stores, including pineapples, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, blueberries, strawberries, cantaloupes and more. Kwik Chek’s variety of snacks and fresh-made menu items easily accommodate diets such as vegetarian, keto and gluten free, the company said.

“We love adding foods that are not only delicious, but accommodate everyone's diet,” said Kevin Smartt, CEO of Kwik Chek Food Stores. “We combat the stigma of convenience store foods by offering fresh, better-for-you options. Kwik Chek believes on-the-go meals shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality.”

Kwik Chek’s foodservice program, KwikCafe, features fajitas and tacos made with fresh tortillas and proprietary meats—all made in-store daily. Kwik Chek debuted its first foodservice promotion of 2020 at the end of January, which featured El Jefe lunch Tacos, Nashville Chicken Tenders, Hash Browns and Red Velvet Cookies. In March, Kwik Chek launched its Bandit and El Jefe breakfast tacos and Seafood Plates.

Bonham, Texas-based Kwik Chek operates 47 c-stores and grocery stores in Texas and Oklahoma. It is No. 130 on CSP's 2020 Top 202 ranking of the largest c-store chains. Among its total locations, 22 are considered food stores, 11 offer car washes and 36 are open 24 hours.
