Kwik Trip is testing its new Ice Box Cold Brew machines in 10 of its convenience stores in Wisconsin’s Fox Valley to see if they can help increase sales in its Fresh Blends category, the company told CSP.

“Ice Box Cold Brew offers a fast, smooth and fully customizable way for guests to craft their perfect coffee drinks,” the La Crosse, Wisconsin-based company said on its website. The Fresh Blends line includes cold brew coffees, iced coffees, frozen lemonades, juicy refreshers, blended frappes, frozen chocolates, fruit shakes and smoothies.

Each of these stores has two Ice Box Cold Brew machines, Kwik Trip spokesperson Ben Leibl told CSP. The machines make iced lattes, frappes and kid-friendly items such as the caffeine-free frozen drinks chocolate banana and caramel banana in the Kid’s Corner. There also are dairy-free options.

“These drinks are completely customizable, so you can build them exactly the way you like,” Kwik Trip’s website said.

Customers can mix and match flavors. The offerings are mocha, caramel, vanilla and sugar-free options, Leibl said.

After a period of time looking at the usage data, Kwik Trip will determine if there’s enough demand to expand the machines in all of its stores, said Leibl, adding that the time frame has not yet been determined.

Locations include Appleton, Combined Locks, Fond Du Lac, Grand Chute, Menasha, Neenah and Oshkosh. The chain chose the stores because they are close to each other if service is needed, Leibl said.

“It’s very early in the test to see how impactful the reimaging has been,” Leibl said.

Kwik Trip has nearly 900 locations and is one of the biggest independently held c-store chains in the country. It has locations in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin under the Kwik Trip banner and stores in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota under the Kwik Star name. The chain will open its first c-store in North Dakota in November. Kwik Trip produces more than 80% of the products sold in its stores, supplied by its own bakery, commissary, dairy and distribution center.
