Maple on the Map

7-Eleven rolls out Maple Pancake Sausage Roller; Boyd's Coffee adds Maple Bacon Cappuccino

DALLAS -- A new breakfast item rolls into 7-Eleven stores this month. The Maple Pancake Sausage Roller is a maple-flavored pancake wrapped around a pork sausage link served hot off the roller grill. An easy-to-eat option for breakfast on the run, the new Breakfast Roller, available exclusively at participating 7-Eleven stores, has been launched with an introductory price of $1 each.

The Maple Pancake Sausage Roller--containing 270 calories--combines two of the most popular breakfast foods--pancakes with syrup and sausage--into one product that was created exclusively for 7-Eleven by Kraft Foods. Customers who tried the new breakfast item at test stores in New York, Austin and San Francisco, gave it positive reviews, the company said.

"The maple aroma gets their attention, and the satisfying sweet and savory flavor will keep them coming back," said Jesus Delgado-Jenkins, 7-Eleven senior vice president of merchandising, marketing and logistics. "If someone craves pancakes for breakfast but is in too big a hurry to stop at a restaurant, they're probably not going to get them to go and eat them on the road. The Maple Sausage Breakfast Roller satisfies that craving in a delicious, dashboard-dining sort of way. Not to mention, it's a great value."

He added, "Breakfast may be the most important meal of the day, but for many, morning is also the most hectic time of the day too. Our morning customers are in a hurry and looking for convenience, value and quality. The Maple Sausage Breakfast Roller is a winner on all three counts," Delgado-Jenkins said.

Based in Dallas, Texas, 7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 8,900 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, there are approximately 43,700 7-Eleven stores in 16 countries. During 2010, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales close to $63 billion.

Separately, Boyds Coffee has rolled out Maple Bacon Cappuccino, a hot beverage with just a hint of smoky bacon flavor. It is available for a limited time in cases of six 2-lb. packs, each yielding 256 oz.

Point-of-purchase merchandising is available to help drive sales and profits, and equipment options from Boyd Coffee Company make hot beverages simple to serve.

Established in 1900 in Portland, Ore., Boyd Coffee Co. is a major at coffee roaster in the Pacific Northwest It also offers hot and iced teas, cappuccinos, frozen beverages and a variety of beverage equipment for large and small customers.
