Marathon Selects Hunt Brothers as Preferred Pizza Provider

Will market program under special terms to 16-state network

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Hunt Brothers Pizza, a major provider of fresh-baked pizza in convenience stores, said that it has signed an agreement with Marathon Petroleum Co. LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Marathon Oil Corp., to be the preferred pizza provider for Marathon-branded c-store operations, according to Scott Hunt, senior executive with Hunt Brothers Pizza.

With this agreement, Nashville, Tenn.-based Hunt Brothers Pizza has agreed to market its pizza program under specially agreed upon terms to Marathon site operators throughout Marathon's 16-state [image-nocss] network.

Hunt Brothers Pizza features a distinctive process for preparing a fresh-baked pizza that is sold with All Toppings No Extra Charge. This feature lets customers add any or all of Hunt Brothers Pizza's 10 toppings for free. This combination of product and added value has fueled the company's growth, it said, now more than 6,000 locations in 26 states.

Marathon-brand stores represent an outstanding network of clean, attractive and well-run branded locations, said Hunt. We believe this partnership opens up significant areas of growth for our company.

Hunt Brothers began distributing its original fresh dough pizza in the early 1990s under the Buffet Style Pizza name before changing the name to Hunt Brothers Pizza in 2004. The pizza is available in whole, large 12-inch pies, both regular and thin crust, as well as the company's Hunk a Pizza, one-quarter of a large 12-inch pizza. The whole pizza is $8.49 and the Hunk is $2.29 or two for $4.29.

In addition to the pizza and toppings, the company also sells and distributes all the equipment necessary to make the pizza, from the proprietary Lincoln Impinger conveyor style oven to a compact pizza shoppe with everything a convenience store owner needs to get started in the pizza business.

Under the Hunt Brothers Pizza business program, store employees are trained to prepare and cook pizza the Hunt Brothers Pizza way. The store is serviced weekly by Hunt Brothers Pizza team members who deliver product in company-owned trucks. In addition to delivery, service includes rotating product, training employees, displaying marketing materials and support in business development.

Houston-based major integrated oil company Marathon's brand marketing network is made up of approximately 4,200 locations.
