ELGIN, Ill. — Commercial foodservice equipment manufacturer The Middleby Corp. has acquired Deutsche Beverage Technology (DBT), a manufacturer of custom-design brewery equipment, for an undisclosed amount.

This is Middleby’s ninth acquisition since the beginning of last year. In January 2019, the company acquired EVO America, manufacturer of ventless cooking equipment. Two months later, Middleby acquired the Cooking Solutions Group, a division of Allen, Texas-based Standex International Corp. It acquired SS Brew Tech, a professional craft brewing and beverage equipment company, in June 2019.The company also acquired equipment producers Synesso and Packaging Progressions Inc., as well as software companies Powerhouse Dynamics Inc. and Brava Home Inc. in 2019. Most recently, Middleby acquired Ram Fry Dispensers, an automated and frozen fry-dispensing brand, in January 2020.

While the acquisition aims to expand Middleby’s complete beverage portfolio and its capabilities, it will especially complement its SS Brew Tech division, said Tim Fitzgerald, CEO of Middleby.

“Being well positioned in fast-growing markets and emerging segments, Deutsche has differentiated technology with highly engineered products,” he said. “We are now in a position to accelerate product development and leverage the sales capabilities of both brands.”

Charlotte, N.C.-based Deutsche Beverage Technology offers custom-made brewery equipment to more than 1,000 companies around the world. The company also offers a variety of advanced solutions for beer, kombucha, cold-brew coffee and other liquid extractions. It has $40 million in annual revenues.
