Middleby Acquires Ram Fry Dispensers

Marks company’s eighth acquisition since January 2019

ELGIN, Ill. — Commercial foodservice equipment manufacturer The Middleby Corp. has acquired Ram Fry Dispensers, an automated and frozen fry-dispensing brand, for an undisclosed amount.

The Ram Fry Dispenser operates by releasing portion-controlled frozen products directly from the freezer into fry baskets. After the fries are loaded in the baskets, they are removed and placed in the fryer for cooking.

“In the current market, operators are in need of solutions to address labor costs and availability,” said Tim Fitzgerald, CEO of Middleby. “As an innovation leader, the Ram automated fry dispenser also manages portion control through inductive basket sensors, decreasing food waste and promoting a higher-quality cooking environment. This is a natural extension of our best-in-class fryer brands.”

This is Middleby’s eighth acquisition in the past year. In January 2019, the company acquired EVO America, a Tualatin, Ore.-based manufacturer of ventless cooking equipment. Two months later, Middleby acquired the Cooking Solutions Group, a division of Allen, Texas-based Standex International Corp. The company also acquired equipment producers Synesso, Ss Brewtech Inc. and Packaging Progressions Inc., as well as software companies Powerhouse Dynamics Inc. and Brava Home Inc. in 2019.

Ram Fry Dispensers is a division of Automated Equipment LLC, Red Wing, Minn., an automated frozen fry-dispensing equipment company.

Based in Elgin, Ill., Middleby manufacturers commercial fryers, bakery ovens, steamers, blast chillers, combi ovens, grills, mixers, warmers, slicers, panini makers and more. Its beverage line includes single-serve and nitro-brewed coffee, as well as Chewblet ice, blended drinks and soft-serve solutions for liquor and soda.
