KNOXVILLE, Tenn., IRVING, Texas, and WESTLAKE, Ohio To celebrate National Hot Dog Day, July 21, Pilot Flying J, 7-Eleven and TravelCenters of America (TA) are among the convenience-store chains offering hot dog promotions.

At Pilot Flying J, customers can download or open the myRewards Plus app to redeem the offer for one free roller grill item, including 100% all-beef Oscar Mayer Foodservice hot dogs, at any participating Pilot or Flying J Travel Center, on July 21.

This giveaway is part of a larger summerwide promotion, which began July 13 and runs through Aug. 10, as Pilot Flying J has teamed with Heinz and Oscar Mayer for a celebration of the all-American hotdog and the moments that bring people together with the #ShareaDogSweepstakes. Customers can top their free hot dogs with Heinz condiments or try a new Heinz Dip Cup for a twist on the classic with a variety of sauces including barbecue, ranch, sweet and sour and honey mustard.

Also, fans are encouraged to post a photo sharing a moment or memory with loved ones and enjoying hot dogs for a chance to be one of 10 “wieners” receiving a $500 Pilot Flying J gift card. To enter the contest,customers can tweet or post the photo on Twitter or Instagram and include “#ShareADogSweepstakes” and tag @PilotFlyingJ. The company will notify winners via Twitter or Instagram around Aug. 11.

“This year, it’s such a great feeling to enjoy being with family and friends that we haven’t seen in a while,” says Brian Ferguson, chief merchant for Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Flying J. “Nothing says summertime quite like a backyard barbecue or a road trip with loved ones and an Oscar Mayer hot dog, especially a free one.”

7-Eleven

At Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven, the c-store chain is offering its quarter-pound Big Bite 100% beef hot dog for $1 at participating stores for the rest of July.

In addition, as part of its 7/11 birthday promotion, the chain is offering a free Slurpee via a drink coupon through July 31. The coupon is available through the 7Rewards loyalty program found in the 7-Eleven app. And all summer, small Slurpees are $1.

“7-Eleven's Big Bite hot dogs and Slurpee drinks are American icons, and while they’re enjoyed year-round, summertime is their time to shine, with millions stopping by to grab a Big Bite hot dog and a Slurpee on their way to the lake, pool, home from a game or just to satisfy a craving,” said Robin Murphy, fresh food product director.

Oklahoma City-based Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores also has a National Hot Dog Day offer.

TA

At Westlake, Ohio-based TravelCenters of America, hot dogs are 99 cents each. There is no limit on the number of hot dogs customers can purchase.
