Pilot’s new “Fuel Kit,” a snack box available now through Sept. 2 for $8, lets customers mix and match items for hundreds of combinations.

Available at more than 340 Pilot and Flying J locations, the options include:

  • One small bag of Frito-Lay brand chips (up to 4.25 ounces)
  • One standard-size candy (up to 2.25 ounces)
  • One any-size fountain drink
  • Three chicken tenders

“Packed with all the flavors road trippers crave, this customizable deal is the perfect on-the-go snack box for summer journeys and everything in between,” the Knoxville, Tennessee-based company said.

The Fuel Kit comes after a Pilot survey of 1,829 respondents conducted by Campspot in April revealed that nearly 60% of summer travelers crave a mix of sweet and salty snacks while also aiming to maximize their travel budget. Campspot is a booking platform for campgrounds, RV parks and glamping resorts based in Grand Rapids, Michigan

“There’s nothing better than an epic road trip, a great playlist and your favorite sweet and savory snacks within arm’s reach,” said Sean Marrero, vice president of food and beverage at Pilot. “That’s why we created the Fuel Kit, to bring convenience, variety and value together in one perfectly portable and personalized deal so that drivers can get back out on their journey.”

For added savings, including a 10-cent discount on gas, customers can download Pilot’s app to find participating locations and unlock exclusive deals and perks.

Pilot Co. is one of the largest networks of travel centers in the country, with 655 stores as of Jan. 1. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway.
