CHICAGO — Commercial equipment manufacturer Rational has launched its iCombi Pro oven for retailers in the United States.

The combination oven offers high productivity with short cook times and low energy consumption. Its main features include indicating what foods can be cooked together and prepping items as quickly as possible or sequenced to be ready at a specified time. The iCombi Pro also tells operators when to load and take out each item. When operators switch from cooking one item to a mixed load on the same shelf, the oven updates the cooking parameters and adjusts their temperatures and cooking times. The iCombi Pro also features a 12-minute interim cleaning cycle, allowing staff to focus on other priorities instead of cleaning the machine.

“Beyond the outstanding cooking results, the new iCombi Pro offers operators the opportunity to improve their kitchen management and business operations,” said Markus Glueck, executive vice president for Rational North America. “All commercial kitchens are under pressure to operate differently, with a heightened focus on safety, productivity and cost-efficiency. The intelligent functions of iCombi Pro help operators conquer today’s most pressing challenges.”

The iCombi Pro comes in various sizes, ranging from the compact XS to the 20-full size. In addition to the iCombi Pro, Rational has also launched the iCombi Classic, which allows chefs to manually operate the oven.

“The iCombi Pro will be the heart of the kitchen of the future,” said Glueck. “The advanced technology makes this cooking system easier to use, and due to its intrinsic intelligence, the iCombi Pro responds just like an experienced chef. It easily performs routine tasks and could sustainably change the way commercial kitchens operate.”

Chicago-based Rational USA works with more than 35,000 foodservice operators nationwide. Besides convenience stores, its products are found in restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, school cafeterias and military bases.
