Ronnoco Acquires U.S. Roasterie

Fifth recent acquisition enables c-store, restaurant, office channel market expansion

ST. LOUIS -- Huron Capital Partners has announced that its portfolio company Ronnoco Coffee LLC has announced that it has acquired U.S. Roasterie Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, a private-label manufacturer of coffee sold into the office, foodservice and convenience store channels of distribution.

"Over the past 20 years, U.S. Roasterie has partnered with hundreds of customers in developing and supporting their private-label brands," said Ronnoco CEO Scott Meader. "The addition of this facility and management team gives Ronnoco another platform through which to pursue alternate channel growth in a large and growing segment of the coffee industry, and will leverage the capabilities, systems and outstanding customer service of Ronnoco."

John Higgins, Huron senior partner, said, "We are thrilled to see Ronnoco continue to expand and execute on the buy-and-build strategy we envisioned, and we're confident in the management team's ability to use this as a runway to drive continued growth of the business."

This is the fifth acquisition Ronnoco has made in the past two years to further its plans for growth both geographically and in market share. The company previously acquired International Blends, Henderson Coffee, the coffee and tea business of Love Bottling Co. and Biff's Coffee. These acquisitions have enabled Ronnoco to expand its presence throughout Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas in convenience stores, restaurants, offices and casinos.

Ronnoco also sold its Clearbrook bottled water business last year to free up space at its St. Louis facilities to support future coffee growth.

St. Louis-based Ronnoco roasts, blends, grinds, packages and distributes premium-quality coffee and teas under five primary brands: Ronnoco, Seattle Roast, Wild Horse Creek, Henderson and Camellia. The company provides a variety of other beverages, such as cappuccino, hot chocolate and smoothies, and coffee-related products and equipment, including cups, flavoring syrups and condiments. Ronnoco supplies its products directly to its convenience store, foodservice and office customers, as well as through a network of third-party distributors throughout 16 Midwestern states, with leading market share in major cities including St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Tulsa, Okla., Omaha, Neb., Des Moines, Iowa, and Minneapolis.

Ronnoco is jointly owned by Detroit-based Huron Capital Partners and Ronnoco management. Huron Capital has raised more than $1.1 billion in capital for equity investments in private companies, where it seeks to partner with management teams to grow their business.
