Convenience stores looking to add a little spark to foodservice sales should consider upgrading an existing burger on their menu.

McDonald’s said it will start selling The Daily Double across the country July 22 through the end of the year after it performed well in some key local markets, notably Chicago, Miami and Seattle, according to CSP sister publication Restaurant Business.

“The burger is an upgraded McDouble, featuring two of the chain’s smaller burger patties, cheese, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, mayonnaise and two slices of tomato,” Restaurant Business reported, adding that it will be featured on the McValue Meal Deal bundle for $6 or $7 depending on the market.

The Daily Double is the latest “in a flurry of new product news at the Chicago-based chain, which is trying to work its way out of the worst sales slump in a decade,” Restaurant Business wrote.
