Wingstop is testing a virtual ordering assistant in some of its restaurants to reduce hold times and dropped calls by taking several phone orders at one time.

The "bot," in partnership with Austin, Texas-based ConverseNow, also will make recommendations determined by each customer’s order, reports CSP sister Restaurant Business.

The technology, which speaks English and Spanish, promises to save time for employees and improve sales with automatic upselling.

The option to speak to a human is still available. Addison, Texas-based Wingstop joins Del Taco, Domino’s, Panera and others to try voice ordering.
