College students looking for a deal might be a convenience-store retailer’s next target to increase foodservice business.

Velvet Taco, for example, just started offering its college-age fans a variety of menu items priced in accordance with their budgets.

Students at campuses in Norman, Oklahoma, and Lubbock and College Station, Texas, can buy up to seven new tacos and sides for $4-$4.50, according to CSP sister publication Restaurant Business. These prices are usually between $6.15 and $8.15.

“We knew our guests in Lubbock, Norman and College Station were ready for an exclusive menu with some innovative taco creations,” said Venecia Willis, director of culinary for Velvet Taco. “When we created this menu, we were inspired by the same scratch cooking preparations as our core menu items, infused with the nostalgia of what college students crave.”

There’s also a happy hour menu at the three college-area locations from 2 to 6 p.m. daily and all day Tuesdays with drink and taco specials, Restaurant Business reported.
