Retailers can help the environment—and perhaps their bottom line—by offering customers a discount on reusable containers.

New York-based salad chain Just Salad, for example, has a February limited-time offering of salads for $8.99 for in-store purchases when customers use its branded reusable bowls, according to CSP sisternews source Restaurant Business.

In the MyBowl program, customers buy a reusable bowl for $1. The goal of the promotion is to incentivize reuse, Just Salads founder and CEO Nick Kenner said.

The bowl results in 41% fewer greenhouse gas emissions versus the fiber one after two uses, an analysis discovered. Greenhouse gas emissions are 89% less after after 52 uses.
