MILFORD, Conn. -- The SUBWAY restaurant chain is offering new steak sandwiches to its customers across the United States and Canada. Touted as "Delicious New Steak, Two Great Ways!," the Blackened Cajun Steak and Steak & Cheese subs feature tender cuts of seared, diced steak, according to the company.
The Blackened Cajun Steak sub is the SUBWAY restaurant chain's "fresh toasted rendition of a southern culinary sandwich, prepared with diced steak and seasoned with a Bayou Cajun spice blend. The new Steak & Cheese blends diced steak with [image-nocss] fire-roasted and grilled sweet bell peppers and onions, topped with cheese, then fresh toasted to draw out flavor and texture.
"We're always researching and testing toward improvements to our menu, appealing to our customers and store owners," said Chris Martone, executive chef for the SUBWAY chain. "I'm pleased that we're offering a delicious, superior quality steak; it's sure to become a fast favorite for lunch and dinner.
To support the new and improved steak sandwiches, the well-received "SUBWAY Dinner Theatre campaign evolves into "Daytime Drama, a new series of humorous vignettes with a soap-opera tone dramatizing lunch-time traumas and tribulations. With even more over-the-top theatrics, comedian Jon Lovitz sets the stage for several micro-melodramas, including "The Rookie: the tale of a young ball player receiving advice on "staying hungry from Reggie Bush; and "The Wrapper: the story of Lil Jon receiving much needed validation from two nearby diners.
The ads were a collaborative effort between the SUBWAY restaurant chain and Lovitz and will include a variety of 30 and 15 second spots to run during primetime over the next several months.
Now in its 41st year, the SUBWAY restaurant chain, with headquarters in Milford, Conn., is the world's largest submarine sandwich franchise with more than 26,500 locations in 85 countries.
