Convenience-store chain Town Pump Inc. and Russo Modular are partnering on the development of Stonehouse Coffee Shots, compact, 400-square-foot modular coffee kiosks designed to be placed outside existing Town Pump convenience stores and truck stops.

The kiosk name is a nod to Stone House Coffee Co., Butte, Montana-based Town Pump’s proprietary coffee brand, Bill McGladdery, Town Pump’s director of corporate communications, told CSP on Friday. All 107 Town Pump stores are in Montana.

Russo Modular is a Phoenix-based manufacturer of factory-built steel commercial buildings.

The first kiosk, in Kalispell, Montana, should be operational within a month, McGladdery said. Kiosks will be added to locations where space is available and where traffic flow allows for it, he said. There is no definitive number at this time. Bozeman and Bonner, Montana, will have kiosks soon as well, he said.

  • Town Pump Inc. is No. 62 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.

The kiosk is built for high-volume espresso service in a compact footprint, Russo Modular said. Featuring two espresso machines, a drive-thru window and a pickup window, the building features a full coffee bar experience in a standalone structure adjacent to existing high-traffic locations.

The program offers Town Pump a way to add a coffee concept to its locations without the cost or time required for ground-up construction, Russo Modular said.

“By placing the kiosk outside existing stores, the model allows for rapid deployment across Town Pump’s footprint,” the company said.

Even at locations where a kiosk is added, coffee will still be available in the store itself, McGladdery said.

The project marks a first for Russo Modular: a gable roof design, developed specifically for this program and now available across the company's modular building lineup, the company said.

“This program pushed us to build something new, our first gable roof,” said Rustin Russo, managing partner at Russo Modular. “That’s what good partnerships do. They bring you a real problem and you build the answer."

The kiosk uses Altro flooring, a commercial-grade system engineered for the environment of a working quick-service restaurant, providing long-lasting durability and protection in high-moisture, heavy-traffic conditions, Russo Modular said. The building is fabricated inside Russo Modular’s 20,000-square-foot Phoenix manufacturing facility before being transported and installed on-site.

Town Pump is a regional chain of convenience stores that has been in Montana since 1953. The chain offers fresh deli-prepared foods, an expansive selection of coffees and other drinks and a range of sweet and salty snacks. In addition to its c-store business, family-owned Town Pump Inc. also operates travel centers, casinos, hotels and restaurants.

Russo Modular specializes in scalable modular programs for quick-service restaurant brands and multiunit operators. The company's Russo Siteworx division provides site construction management from permitting through installation. The company's client roster includes Dutch Bros, Jimmy John’s, Black Rock Coffee, 7 Brew and Salad & Go across 18-plus states.
