Convenience-store chain Wawa has a new partnership with Gritty, the mascot of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Gritty is teaming up with Wawa’s mascot, Wally Goose, to promote a new limited-edition Gritty Smoothie, a fruit smoothie at Wawa Philadelphia area stores for the NHL team’s playoff run, Wawa, Pennsylvania-based Wawa said.
- Wawa is No. 8 on CSP’s 2026 Top 40 update to the 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. Watch for the full 2026 Top 202 ranking in June.
The smoothie features mango, pineapple and tart cherry flavors. It’s topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips and served in a disposable cup designed with Gritty’s orange fur and googly eyes, Wawa said.
The smoothie is now available at more than 400 stores in Philadelphia and surrounding regions.
“This partnership was all about having fun, celebrating local pride and giving our customers something that feels uniquely Philadelphia,” said Doug Martin, Wawa chief marketing officer. “Gritty’s pitch to Wally couldn’t have come at a better time as Philadelphia cheers on its home team in postseason.”
Customers can order the smoothie in-store on the touch screen ordering system or using the Wawa app and arrange for store pick up, curbside service and delivery.
Wawa also recently debuted Banana Bread coffee. The company described it as “spice-forward notes and soft baked pastry aromas, plus hints of freshly baked bread and sweet caramelized banana.” Customers also can enjoy Banana Bread handcrafted beverages such as lattes, milkshakes and smoothies.
Wawa has about 1,100 locations open in eight states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, North Carolina and Alabama, as well as in Washington, D.C.
